STYLE GUIDE DEVELOPMENT

Building a style guide can be a time-consuming task. One that requires a lot of detail work, preparation of many templates, and thoughtful planning.

We build guides for many clients. They can be anywhere from 3 pages to 300. The guides can be based on a new design provided by your designers, or a design created by our team, and approved by you. We can refresh an existing guide and even reverse-engineer a guide based on existing work/packaging.

Illustration

Line drawings or illustrations are used everywhere - on packaging, user manuals, diagrams, etc., and convey information differently than product photography.

A line drawing can be the perfect visual tool to communicate special product features and other valuable product information to consumers. Our design team creates hundreds of line drawings for our clients yearly.

We have the expertise to create line drawings that communicate even the most complex information clearly and precisely.

Translation

FRENCH < > ENGLISH < > SPANISH

We frequently work with brands that require multilingual copy - French and English, Spanish and English, Chinese, and so on.

If you need multilingual packaging or manuals, our team has an integrated process to handle both design and translations for you. We work with bonded translation agencies, not software generated translations, to avoid awkward translation errors you see from time to time.

Art files are typically designed in English, and initially routed for review with placeholders for additional language(s). This accommodates for changes that may be requested during the review process prior to generating translations. Once files with English text are approved, translations are generated, inserted into the art, and then routed back to the client for a final look before being released for print production.

In general, the turnaround time to translate packaging artwork is two working days, but can vary depending on the quantity and complexity of the text; a highly technical user manual will take more time than an apparel care label.

We process over 5,500 pieces of artwork with translations to French and/or Spanish yearly.

Proofing

Our Proofing Service ia an alternative to Adaptation. The Key difference is our team proofs artwork created by your internal designers.

This service is best suited for companies with a small, experienced design team, dedicated to a specific brand or category. Designers who collaborate closely with other designers and set standards in place to root out inconsistencies in your brand's graphic elements or those of your client prior to submitting artwork to Benchmark for proofing.

Without the most basic design standards in place, art files submitted for proofing may take longer to review, potentially delay progression to the next step of your process, and ultimately finalize. In addition, designer time not utilized efficiently causes missed opportunity for your other internal design needs.

Proofing is a necessary and critical step in the design process regardless of who creates your artwork. Talk to a Benchmark consultant before you decide if proofing is the right service for you.
